Studio Arts Majors
There are two degrees for the Studio Art Major. One is the Bachelor of Art (BA) degree. The second is the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. You do not choose the BFA. It is something you are selected into. See the Undergraduate Bulletin (pdf)for more information.
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Studio Art
The undergraduate program in Studio Art requires a foundation in art history as well as an understanding of the formal traditions and contemporary practices in art. Undergraduate students concentrating in studio art begin in the program leading to the BA degree and pursue a broad-based knowledge in at least four disciplines of studio art. B.F.A. students may select an emphasis in ceramics, graphic design, three dimensional design drawing, intermedia, jewelry and metal arts, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture. Cross-referenced courses originating in the School of Art and Art History may not be counted as non-art electives.
