A retrospective on the history of the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, "70 Years of the Iowa MFA: 1939-2009," will take place at the Market-Dubuque Display Space, 122 E. Market St., Nov. 5 - 13. The space is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and a reception will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.

This exhibition features 55 works, including paintings, prints, drawings, metal work, ceramic, design, sculpture and inter-media from the UI Thesis Gallery.

The Thesis Gallery consists of nearly 8,000 artworks given to the School of Art and Art History by graduating Master of Fine Arts students since 1939. Items from the collection are available for rent by UI colleges, schools and offices on an annual basis. For this exhibition, special emphasis has been given to works that are infrequently displayed due to their special requirements for a venue.
