The Art Library's 100,000 volumes cover all aspects of the visual arts to support teaching and research for the School of Art and Art History and the University community. Resources include an extensive collection of exhibition catalogs and catalogues raisonnés, approximately 200 periodical subscriptions, a wide range of vertical file materials, and microfiche sets such as the Marburger Index and the New York Public Library Artists File. Reference materials include tools such as the Dictionary of Art, Thieme-Becker and the Allgemeines Kunstler Lexikon, and the Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae. In addition to reference materials and periodicals, approximately 20% of the collection is non-circulating. Major indexing tools are available on-line from the Art Library home page at http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/art.

Research and reference service is available in the library. By phone (319-335-3089) and via e-mail lib-art@uiowa.edu .
